The term branding is often misunderstood or overlooked. Many companies don’t realize the importance that the look and feel of their branding has on their business in terms of creating a name and reputation for themselves. Your business cards, website and all other marketing materials are what give your customers their first impression of your business, and most likely, you’d like it to be good one! Here are a few things to take into consideration when developing a brand for your business.
1. The logo. It’s important to have a strong logo which gives your potential customers a solid impression of what your company is about. Multiple tests should be made to determine if the fonts, colours and shapes make the logo legible at many different sizes.
2. Consistency. Whether it’s a business card, website, letterhead or brochures, your branding should be consistent throughout. The more often your customers see the same colours, typefaces and graphics, the more recognizable and memorable your brand will be.
3. Personality. Make sure your branding expresses your company’s personality well. Your customers should get a feeling of the experience they are going to have if they choose to work with you, just by the impression they get by looking at your branding. We all want our company to stand out from our competition – so what better way to do that, than to give it a little personality?
So how effective is your brand? Try asking some of your customers what their first impression of your company was and why.
